Welcome to the Namgoong Lab
-
The Namgoong Lab is at the forefront of pioneering translational research, aiming to bridge the gap between groundbreaking laboratory discoveries and their application in enhancing patient care. Specializing in a broad spectrum of areas such as microsurgery for breast and extremity reconstruction, nanomedicine, wound healing, tissue regeneration, and scarless healing, our lab leverages an array of advanced technologies. These include innovative small molecule therapeutics, cutting-edge cell therapies including MSCs and SVFs, lipomodification with nano-fat application, DNA methylation research and the latest in single-cell transcriptomics as well as CRISPR technology.
-
Under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Namgoong, a board-certified plastic surgeon and associate professor at Korea University College of Medicine, our lab has secured a reputation for excellence. Dr. Namgoong, currently a visiting professor of plastic surgery at Stanford University, brings a wealth of expertise and an innovative approach to research. With a strong foundation in reconstructive plastic surgery, particularly microsurgery for post-cancer or trauma reconstruction, Dr. Namgoong's guidance ensures our projects are both clinically relevant and scientifically robust.
-
Located within the vibrant ecosystem of the Korea University Medicine in Seoul, Korea, the Namgoong Lab benefits from a dynamic environment that fosters interdisciplinary collaborations. Our network spans across the College of Medicine, College of Engineering, and broader university departments, enriched by partnerships with leading industry figures. This collaborative spirit accelerates the translation of our research from lab to market, aiming to revolutionize patient care.
-
Our lab is not just a research facility; it's a launchpad for future leaders in medicine, research, and industry. We are grateful for substantial support from major funding bodies, including the National Research Fund, the Ministry of Education, and various industry contracts. This support underscores our commitment to innovatively addressing the most pressing clinical challenges.
-
In essence, the Namgoong Lab embodies the spirit of discovery, collaboration, and advancement in the pursuit of translational research that promises to redefine regenerative medicine for patient care and medical practices. Our dedication to creating a bridge between laboratory research and clinical application is at the heart of everything we do, driving forward the frontiers of medical science.
